What the hell is RSS, Atom feed, and other herbs?
In all (or most) of blogs / sites 2.0, we'll see icons such as the left, and Wednesday mean? RSS is a "protocol" communication standard for the dissemination of content among different Web services using XML, the highest utilization is where produce / publish content periodically, in other words, suck it pabote content of any site (permitted). |
And you do with that content "sucked"?
de contenido (muchas veces mal llamado: “sindicación”). There are two formats RSS or ATOM (there are others even more versions of the same) for the dissemination of content (often wrongly called "syndication").
RSS: Really Simple Syndication, is a simple format.
ATOM: Same as above but with more technical information and normalization.
FEED: List of items of a RSS / ATOM.
Source: the one in Plaza de Mayo ![]()
Two major uses of this technology (obviously there are others):
* The most basic is to have a "reader" RSS, this is a feed manager which allows you to keep track of things you read and no, the great advantage of having a reader is to use centralized all data sources into a single point, with this you would not need to visit dozens of blogs / sources, if not these will come to you through your reader directly, without much effort to subscribe to the source.
* The other use is the dissemination of content through various means (mostly other blogs), this also applies to twitter , webclips , and other web 2.0, this technology makes it easy enough these tasks (called content consumption )
For example, in the right column of this blog have 4 services "consume" content from various sources, such as "to be doing? ..." Consumes twitter , "Feeds: Crystian" and "Feeds: Rengo" eat feeds that we share with the "reader" (explained next post)
Next: how to use Google's Reader.
chup.
