What is Twitter and what is

1 comment September 3rd, 2010 a comment

What is Twitter?

Twitter emerges as a tool similar to a blog but in which we limited our number of characters to write 140 characters per item. It resembles a box where we place our "status" (as in the MSN Messenger or gTalk) where you write briefly your current mood, what are you doing, a thought or phrase. Currently share links to blogs or news, photos and videos.

Just do not get it! Can I use it?

Throughout the remainder of this report, we'll try to answer that question. Many people still have never used Twitter ask if there blogs, instant messaging and Facebook needed this new service. The reality is that Twitter introduced new concepts that did not exist and it was so strong. On the one hand to have a limited capacity forces the text you type to be concise and to the point. On the other hand there are new definitions and roles such as the "followers" (did not exist before) and explain a little better then.

New concepts: followers and real-time news

Unlike Facebook, where two people to contact both must be accepted, on Twitter you can follow another person without her being our "friend". That is the concept of Follower. And we can go to many people and others may be interested to follow us and what we say in our tweets.
The other concept is born with Twitter news in real time and created or reported by the same twitter. Step to explain it when the service won an important critical mass of users and still be able to tweet from your mobile phone, began to broadcast news and developments long before they appear on TV or radio. A good example was when a plane crashed in New York , where the accident was covered in real time via twitter, that is as it was passing people who were near the place. And all that coverage was before it hits CNN or other media.

No intermediaries: Celebrities on Twitter

When generating a direct link between "follower and followed" we can link our Time Line with news writing celebrities, famous, trademark or other characters that interest us. The novelty of this is that there has never been as direct a route relationship between the "fan" and "God." The other day I heard that Alanis Morisette was pregnant by her own words in your tweet. Consider that before to learn of such news was still a circuit much longer and more complicated: the representative of the singer warns half, then that raises the intermediary release (Reuters) and finally reaches some local online newspaper then discuss some announcer on the radio.

Facebook Vs Twitter

If I have Facebook, you need to have Twitter? are not the same? Answer: They are not the same. While there are social networks because we link to various individuals and share comments and opinions are very different. One of the differences and said and lies in the connection between users is not necessarily bidirectional and Facebook. Also Twitter is characterized by very simple: a short text, maybe a link and go. Facebook is a cluster of services: upload photos and videos, event calendar, online games, polls and much more. The simplicity of Twitter makes it very practical for use from mobile phones to read so as to update the state of their own.

Natural history: the hashtags

Twitter was born in early 2006 and was gradually changing and there were improvements. A very interesting feature that emerged by the users were the "hashtags." The hastags are labels used to identify the Twitt and it is used and character #. For example could be used # music , # movies or now increasingly common to see job search tags with # employment . They are very useful when real-time search and filter information.

So Twitter is for ...

In conclusion we can say I do not know specifically what it is Twitter, you probably have several different functions depending on how you use each person. But maybe generalizing a little and root of what we described above we can say that Twitter is an online communication tool, bounded and concise.

How to start?

If I could convince you, at least a little bit, that Twitter serves and is useful for something, you can start by going to twitter.com and create an account with your username. Recommendation: Records a short name!.

And if you want to contact me my username is @ jbagnato , Greetings!

Facebook as a social platform is becoming a lot (too?) options. It works like a blog to post to work as a Flickr or Picasa to upload and share photos and acts as a forum to discuss and form groups to work as Twitter for live updates "what are you doing now" to work as a Web Email, calendar and alarm functions as, as the search for online dating and chat and supports third party applications.
Now it is becoming a new console games as they were in the past, Atari, and as is currently the Nintendo , the Xbox and Playstation .

By centralizing most activities-not-so-young, is beginning to engulf tambén the field of video games. Is that while a lit before his "Play" and loaded a game, Facebook is making to transform the "old PC" in a console online. If the social web browser tipeamos Tetris, Mario, Pacman, Scrabble, Pocker or almost any of the games with her best known, the entontraremos.

Attention: new markets

Enterprises are beginning to be alert to new possibilities that allows Facebook: mobile phones. While it is the fight between the mobile system of Google ( Android ) and the operating system of iPhone , the fact is that one can access your favorite social network from either, and even from any smartphone or from a Palm ( PDA) that is accessible from any platform play within Facebook.

Evolution

evolucion-facebook Initially Facebook applications were all very simple (if not ugly) almost all made in static HTML but slowly getting better developments. Furthermore, the API (development framework) was mutating and improving, was very unstable these days seems to balance a little. The company Playfish has five of the 10 applications most popular games in the Ranking of Network Mark Zuckerberg and are all made in Flash games, including "Who has the biggest Brain", "Pet Society" (furor among women ), "Word Challenge", "Bowling" and "Geo Challenge". • Twitter limits you to write 140 characters.
  • Fotolog only allows uploading a photo per day and up to 10 comments
  • Facebook homogenized interface lets you customize and not (even) colors.

The most popular sites and Internet applications, we set limits, restrictions, conditions, and ... the public will love it! We are talking about millions people around the world, thousands of individuals who adhere to and consume these border services. So ... is there a key? In place of freedom must be offered to bars?

Will users eventually are like a caged bird, which used to be fed and happy in their inches cubic meters of space?

Be.

Popego, the popular ego to reach

.

The first news I had of Popego , said that Santiago Siri had reached Argentina locate a site in the top 50 of world prestigious event of TechCrunch . I was surprised, I was overjoyed to hear about how good it was positioning a website compatriot globally.

What is it? How did he do? How much cover? Is it business? Were the first questions I asked myself.

For starters, the site has a name that describes him from head to toe: Ego Pop.
In this new (old?) Social network age, the fluid communication between people, contacts, references, the navigator is full of sites and services to feed his ego. His "I". Your photos, your videos, your stories, your comments, opinions, votes. The brainchild of this site is that of nuclear various services that are subscribed to the egocentric navigator and concentrate in Autoblog.

But that's for sure? and my privacy?

equalizador de tus gustos

Yes yes yes ... is it safe, stay quiet lady. Two things, privacy and almost does not exist , especially in teenagers and new internet-social tribes seeking emerging popularity is in the exhibition and second, the site's brother Liniers public access only to user profiles, without requiring user and password for other services.
If you have a Picassa album or Flickr (or both!) You know them you can set the scope of privacy desired for the album is public or restricted to persons you designate. If the photos are public, then you can tell him Popego "Hey Popego!, Knows more about my profile on my public album of Mar del Plata".
Similarly, we can tell that you review our services Popego YouTube videos, blog, Reader, Delicious, Twitter and many other services (Facebook coming soon).

And that's not all.

With all that ball data, tags, keywords, image and multimedia the site of the orange smiley face is not satisfied. Want more. And going for more.
Personally I buenisima the idea seemed to there to the autoblog with my items for various services concentrated in one place.
But it seems that the boy of the lens was given to advance and improve the idea. Maybe that's the break to get to be one of the 50 best sites of 2008 .

Popego takes our "likes" (taste), processed our profile and provides us with new data. Of course, when we endorse our services turn you were saying "Hey Popego, I like reading science fiction, my language is Spanish, my tags are Computer Science and Art, I read news about movies." Then he is responsible for reviewing and stir in the network to find feeds, news, images and videos that are similar to our tastes.

Popego becomes a personal assistant, who tries to understand, how we are, what we like, what does not and juggling for King, sorry, I meant for the surfer.

I just came from Palermo Valley Night 7!

Really, really good!, This is a short summary summary (: P) than seen:

The place is very interesting, and was even full of people.

Arrive late and was Santiago Siri with his presentation, commenting as he was of techcrunch ( what the hell is techcrunch? ) and Silicon Valley as (among others).
Next post is an interview I did with James, do not miss it! ;)

Then there was another James, in this case Bilinkis Santiago , founder of Officenet, which compared the start of flying (or more precisely paragliding), the idea of the talk is basically this post: http://spanish.bilinkis.com/2008 / 09/startup / , but of course, one thing is read and a listen ;)

And finally was Martin Varsavsky , told some stories and told us his vision of the crisis and how we should act as entrepreneurs. For his talk, the N95 holsters and film! (Is more to listen more than to see)

And as always, much networking!

What the hell is Google Trends for WebSites?

No comments September 27th, 2008 No comments

Continuing with the post above (I recommend reading it before continuing), let's talk about "Google Trends for Websites"

With this tool we can see and compare traffic between sites.

But that does not rank ?

( what the hell is Alexa? )
Sure you do!, Chango!

It's basically a cross between Google Trends and Alexa, it is actually in direct competition with Alexa (and other less known www.compete.com , like forgetting that domain! : P .)

We find sites through its domain, and see its evolution in time of visits.

This is a powerful tool to see our own evolution in enterprises, or what is better, the evolution of competition :)

Let us with a practical example:

"Clarin.com, taringa.net, lanacion.com.ar, minutouno.com, ole.com.ar"

What the hell is Google Trends?

3 comments September 11th, 2008 3 comments

Basically Google Trends lets you see the GUI search terms through Google and also compare it against other terms, including criteria such as date or geographic location.

The aim with this?

Knowing trends! monkey!

Knowing that is what people want more! and knowing these needs is possible to generate products to cover (MUEJEJE), imagine a marketing department would pussies with a tool like this!

It may even be useful if we are not sure of any synonym, and we can say as the people performing searches (eg free or free) ;)

The only drawback it has is that there are absolute values, if not, on from the first comparison, therefore, to compare the first term will always have the value 1, the value of the remaining terms are relative units the first (basically a multiplier)

Like everything in google minimalist to the extreme, to execute a query just type up to 5 terms / words separated by commas.

Let's make a good practical example for you to understand the potential

Look and compare the number of times they were searched for the words

"Sarah Palin, Obama, McCain"
